Games:
- The middle school cheer team will be cheering for its final season of the 2022-23 school year for the Middle School Girls Basketball A Team home games. A Team Girls Basketball Game Schedule
Practice Schedule:
- Monday Tumbling and Stunting: 3:30-5:30 pm in the High School Commons -
  - Attire: yellow top, grey or white bottoms, cheer shoes
- Tuesday Practice: 5:00-7:00 pm in the k8 Gym
  - Attire: black top, black bottoms, cheer shoes
- Wednesday Practice: 5:00-7:00 pm in the k8 Gym
  - Attire: free choice top (school appropriate), black bottoms, cheer shoes
- Practice schedule subject to change-all changes to schedule will communicated via email and the Band App

Notify Me! Button (Top Right of PRA Athletics Web page)

If you have a Middle School Student Athlete and want to be able to get notifications of game & practice changes, sign up through the "Notify Me!" button. Here you can choose all the sports that you wish to receive notifications from. You will use the same email/log in that you used when creating your rschools account. Once you have this set up, you also will have the option to download an app (called Activity Scheduler

) to your phone. This is utilized throughout Middle and High School Athletics.

Dress to Impress Mentality:

Home games/Contests/Meets = dress up! Slack with button up shirt with collar. Extra additions might be a tie or sport jacket. Appropriate length Skirt or dress with a collar, pencil skirt, dress slacks, button up shirt with collar.
*Cheer wears their full uniform for home games.

Leadership:

PRA way 100% of the time & follow MS School Policies
Add value and leadership within the classroom
Be a positive role model for those around you and on your team
Always be uplifting
Be trustworthy, have Integrity & selflessness and show perseverance
Take accountability when not following the above.

Eligibility:

Be accountable for your missed work if you leave early for a game.
Use study hall to complete work and get ahead
Eligibility is a CHSAA policy
If you have 2 or more Failing grades you cannot participate from Tuesday to Tuesday.
The eligibility report is run at Tuesday 10am.

Cheer Team Expectations:

Cheerleaders are students first, and athletes second
- Grades affect eligibility to perform at games-2 F's makes a student ineligible for the following week
  - Grade are pulled every Tuesday morning at 10 am to determine eligibility
- Attending office hours takes priority over attending cheer practice
Cheerleaders show the PRA way:
- In class
- After school
- In practice
- At all school events
CheerLEADERS lead others to show the PRA way
Report all serious injuries that occur during or outside of cheer events to the coaches
- Include a doctor’s note that informs the coaches of treatment and recovery time for the injury
Practices and games are mandatory, except in extenuating circumstances,i.e., family emergency, illness, doctor’s appointments, etc.
- Absences from games or practices should be communicated at least 24 hours in advance to both of the coaches via email or Band message, except in the case of an emergency
No Sunday contact of any kind per CHSSA guidelines
Athletes may only participate in the UCA competition if they join the team before September 1st of the competition year

The coaching philosophy of the PRA cheer team involves modeling and teaching the athletes on the team to:

Respect yourself, your teammates, and your coaches
Maintain a growth mindset-start where you are and incrementally build skills based on corrections and coaching
Demonstrate work ethic and focus-a drive to put in the work and apply corrections in order to improve
Prepare for high school cheerleading and beyond
Demonstrate teamwork-supporting and showing good sportsmanship to peers
Build self-confidence-trusting in your ability to learn and improve

Have fun and friends-a safe space where you can be yourself and feel a sense of community

Tryout Process

Tryout Process:
For Middle School Cheerleading, tryouts occur in the spring for the following school year. This allows time to order tailored uniforms and attend tumbling classes over the summer before the new season starts in the fall.
Tryouts consist of tumbling, jumps, cheers, and dances learned over a period of 2 school days. They are judged by a panel of coaches based on a set of predetermined criteria, including presence, sharpness, and coachability. Athletes are cut based on a minimum score achieved during their tryout performance. Students of all genders are welcome to try out for the team. Athletes are offered one tryout per season.
If you are a transfer student and do not have the opportunity to try out during our regular tryout process in the spring, please email the cheer coaches. If we have space on the team, and you contacted us before October 1st, we will set you up with a tryout time and give you 48 hours to learn and perform the tryout material.
